Finding new music can be a drag. Then Listen To is here to help.
Enter an artist or song name, genre, or mood into the box and hit enter and Then Listen To will generate a pretty graph of results. The bigger the circle, the better the match!
Click and hold a circle for a second to expand the graph with even more results; it's that simple!
Even share searches with your friends! Then Listen To generates sharable links that direct a user right back to their search!
But there's more! Check out the help section for a full list of commands!
Artist searches are Then Listen To's specialty! It's as simple as typing in an artist's name and pressing enter!
You can even get track recommendations! Search for a track by entering "{track name} by {artist name}", without quotes. Then Listen To will know you want a track and not an artist or genre. You can also flag your search with "track:" or "song:" if you don't remember the artist's name!
Then Listen To will always assume a search is an artist name first. To force a track name search, flag it or utilize the advanced search options.
Searching artists and tracks is specific. If you wish to get generalized recommendations on a genre, mood, or tag, you're in luck! Then Listen To provides means to recommend artists based on these characteristics. In order to do so, first flag your search with "genre:", "mood:", or "tag:".
Don't forget the colon after your chosen flag!
For general recommendations of up-and-coming artists, use the What's Hot Search feature. Click on "What's Hot" link on the home page to perform a What's Hot search.
But there's more! Then Listen To can tell you what's trending in different cities of the world. A location search can be performed by typing "What's hot near {city name}".
If your browser supports geolocation then geolocation searches can be performed! Instead of entering a city name to search, enter 'here' or 'me'. Read more about location searches.
Then Listen To can help you learn about your favorite band's roots! In order to perform an influence search, click the "History" link on the home page.
Find artist influences with searches like: "influenced {artist name}".
Why not look at more recent times to see who an artist influenced? This is also possible with Who Influenced Searches.
Who Influenced Searches generally take the form: "did {artist name} influence".
Then Listen To makes it easy to expand your graphs. If you see an artist in a graph that you want recommendations for, simply click that artist's circle. A new search is appended to your existing graph with 10 new recommendations!
Hovering over an artist's node will reveal all of its direct links and temporarily fade out all unrelated nodes. This is useful when viewing complex graphs with many nodes (generally after 4 or more searches on the same graph).
